About École des Lumières
École des Lumières — “the School of Lights” — is a French American school in Islamabad, founded in 2012 by a Sciences Po Paris alumnus. For over a decade we have set a high standard for early childhood and primary education in Pakistan.
Our philosophy
We believe a child’s growth begins with connection. Every child is seen, heard and celebrated — not a face in a crowd. Our team-teaching model (a Primary and Secondary teacher in every class) ensures each learner receives genuine attention.
Screen-free, hands-on learning
Since 2012 we have advocated against screen time for young children, long before it became mainstream. Our classrooms are full of real materials, real conversations, and real play — the foundations of deep learning.
Sport every single day
We are the only school in Islamabad to offer a sports class every day of the week, building healthy bodies, teamwork and confidence alongside academic excellence.
A research-based curriculum
Our Cambridge-aligned programme is built on four developmental pillars — Language, Cognitive, Socio-Emotional and Physical — nurturing the whole child from Playgroup to Grade 8.
